For Christ, For His Gospel, For the Spiritually Lost

For the past 18 months, nearly 20 men from our Houston area congregations have gathered to carry out prayer, discussion, and planning.  While relying on the Lord and his Word, these men are developing practical steps to strengthen our churches and to reach out to the city with Christ’s truth and love, aiming to do more church planting.

Why are we here in Houston? (purpose)

To know Jesus Christ and to make him known by gathering and building up mature, equipped disciples, who are bound together in the Lord and under the care of ordained servants.

What is our plan regarding Houston? (mission)

To strengthen our local churches, to reproduce ministry, and to provide resources for church planting.

Because our risen Lord commissioned His church to make disciples, via baptizing and teaching; and with an effort to apply the Scriptures and the secondary confessional and constitutional standards of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, we are committed to carry out the work of the church, in fellowship with and obedience to Christ, by:

  • divine worship:  as those under the provision, guidance, and care of elders, we provide for the public reading of Scripture, teaching, and preaching of the Word of God; praying; singing and praise; fasting and thanksgiving; and administering baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
  • mutual edification: in our union with Christ and one another, we cherish fellowship in encouraging one another in love, prayer and teaching; for promoting submission to one another and exercising discipline; and for serving one another as the church.
  • gospel witness and mercy ministry: we aim to live out the Good News in Houston, to always be ready to offer the good confession of the name of Christ before men; and for collecting and distributing offerings to show mercy to all, especially the household of faith; and to take part in the World Wide Outreach ministry and witness of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

Join us! Contact the Rev. Mark Sumpter to be a part of a growing number of people who are praying and as well, want to learn how to be involved. God willing, a 15-year plan regarding outreach and church planting will be published mid-2018.
